Bully Police Website with photos from the signing of HB2266

"THE POWER OF ONE DEDICATED WOMAN
Here is the news from Adrianna Sgarlata, Director of Bully Police-Virginia, about today's signing (4/5/05) of the Virginia Anti Bullying Law."

Adrianna was bullied when she was a student in school but she has overcome the peer-abuse and is now using it for a positive influence wherever she goes.  Adrianna will be competing in the Miss Virginia Pageant this summer.

In October 2004, after meeting with Adrianna, who supplied him with background information, statistics, and all kinds of info on Bullying, Delegate Rob Bell,  House of Delegates, Fifty-Eighth District, decided to make anti-bullying legislation a major priority this year in Richmond.  In January 2005 Delegate Bell asked Adrianna to meet with him again, at which time he presented Adrianna with the legislation that had been drafted, and gave her the task of organizing lobbying efforts on behalf of the bills.  Their combined efforts were successful, and their two anti-bullying bills passed both the House and Senate with flying colors. HB 2266 was signed by Governor Warner at a ceremonial signing event attended by Adrianna and others on April 5, 2005. HB 2267 was signed at an earlier date by Governor Warner.

Welcome to Bully Whys

Letter to the Editor by Julie Clark

http://members.aol.com/jpc57/be.html

This article discusses the problem of bullying and makes reference to Adrianna’s work in getting legislation passed in the state of Virginia. Below is the text of the section which mentions Adrianna’s involvement.

"I am working with an anti-bullying organization, Bully.Police.org. They have a website at http://www.bullypolice.org. Members of this group, especially Adrianna Sgarlata, have worked on anti-bullying legislation which passed almost unanimously recently in both the House and the Senate. The bills will be signed into law on July 1, 2005, by Governor Warner.

More information on this legislation (HB2266) can be found here: HB2266. The second law, HB2267, is designed to give immunity from harassment any school employee or student who reports bullying or other crimes. Information on HB2267 may be found here: HB2267. Links and information on both laws will be available on my website. "
