Miss America Platform of Service

Behaving Respectfully and Valuing Others – a Youth Safety Initiative, is a multi-faceted endeavor that encompasses issues related to ensuring the safety of our youth and protecting them from schoolyard bullies, as well as Internet cyber bullies and predators. The goal of the program is the education of both adults and children about the effects of youth violence and bullying on learning, the implementation of respectful climates within home and school environments, the embracing of diversity, and the implementation of legislation and initiatives to ensure the safety of our youth in school, at home, and in our communities. This includes the promotion of both State and Federal Youth Safety laws, such as the bully prevention legislation successfully initiated and passed in the Commonwealth of Virginia based on Miss Sgarlata’s efforts.
